Interactive tutoring on the toughest topics in Microbiology
MicroFlix™ are interactive, 3D, movie-quality animations with self-paced tutorials and gradable quizzes that help students master three of the toughest topics in microbiology: metabolism, DNA replication, and immunology. Students can learn each of the topics by viewing the animations, completing the tutorial, printing a personal review sheet, and taking the quiz.
Students also have access to BioFlix™ animations, which help them review relevant concepts from general biology. For a 20-second clip of the available BioFlix animations, click below.

How instructors are incorporating Flix™ into their course:
- Use the PowerPoint® slides with labeled structures in lecture to guide your students through the processes at your own speed.
- Start class with a movie! Have students watch the Flix video with narration at the beginning of class, enhance the information with your lecture, then go back before the class ends to watch the video again - this time without narration, and ask your class to explain what is happening. Use the pause feature on your video player to stop and highlight different aspects of the process.
- Watch the Flix video in lecture and assign your students to watch it on their own and complete the assignable tutorial and the quiz.
- Have your students print out the eStudy Sheet located on the bookÕs website and fill it out while watching a Flix video. Then have them turn it in at the next class for homework.
- Enhance your lectures by incorporating the Flix animations into your own PowerPoint® presentations!
